Midfield kingpin Godfrey Akol has agreed to extend his stay at the Jinja based side Kirinya Jinja SS for one year.
Akol was instrumental in Kirinya’s splendid 2017-18 campaign that saw them finish 5th but had his employment contract with the Charles Ayiekoh coached side expire at the end of the season.
Swift Sports understands that the lanky midfielder will put ink to paper on Monday 23rd July that will entertain his stay at the club until 2019.
The development comes after the player’s unsuccessful negotiations with his potential suitors, inclusive of guarantee for more playing time.
” Akol and his representatives from Noel Sports management agency have decided to prolong there relationship with Kirinya Jinja SS for one more season.”
A host of clubs like KCCA FC, Vipers SC, Mbarara City among others had expressed their interest in the Kirinya midfelder but failed to acquire him due to failure to meet his terms.
Akol who also doubles as the team skipper, will become the 3rd player to sign a contract extension after goalkeeper Didi Muhammad and right back Allan Drajua.
