State Minister for Sports Hamson Denis Obua paid a courtesy visit to the Bombers team in their residential training camp on Wednesday afternoon.
National Council of Sports General Secretary Dr. Patrick Bernard Ogwel and his assistant David Katende and UBF President Moses Muhangi were all in attendance.
Obua called upon the Bombers to aim for prestigious medals while in Dakar, Senegal.
“Sports is in the field, I have came to see where the Bombers are training, conditions under which they are training and the facilities available to inform the planning process of the government on the challenges being enlightened by the president of the federation.”
We hope that collectively we will be able to handle these challenges. I thank Prisons for the accommodation rendered to the Bombers.
I call upon everyone to go with the target of winning the prestigious medals while in Dakar, our coming is to help you have the mental preparedness. Personally I did not to study in great schools but now am here as the minister
“I am impressed with the spirit and our expectations for team Uganda is high and we wish them all the best.”
Uganda Boxing Federation President Muhangi hinted on the inadequate training tools and limited allowances
“We are facing various challenges in this residential camp whereby the team is training in poor conditions and inadequate facilities.” The coaches here do not receive any allowances due to lack of enough funds but are here because they love the game.” Said Muhangi.
For staters, the Bombers camped at Luzira prior to last year’s All Africa games. The forthcoming Tokyo 2020 Africa Qualifiers are slated for this month from 20th-29 in Dakar, Senegal.
