Geoffrey Sserunkuma reflects on stellar year

2016-2017 season is one to remember for the KCCA FC talisman Geoffrey Sserunkuma, On a night set by the Club to recognize it’s best performers of the year 2016/17, the 34 year old walked away with three awards, the MVP, Fans favourite player, and was also voted by his teammates as a player who performed best. He said,

I thank my teammates, fans and the coaches for the trust they have vested in me, and the commanding Co operation that enabled us have a tremendous season”.

A joyous Sserunkuma added,

The season was one of the greatest for me in my entire football career, but above all this success is because of the Almighty”. 

He also commented about the club’s chances of making it to the knockout phase of the CAF Confederation cup.

“I believe if we manage to get a draw in Tunisia against Club Africain and 3 points at home against FUS Rabat , we shall be in a good position to progress”.

The goal poacher has scored 32 goals in 2016/17 season in all competitions. Sserunkuma has previously played for Nalubaale FC, Horizon FC, Lweza FC and KCC in Uganda and professional stints at St.George of Ethiopia, Bloemfontein Celtic, Bidvest Wits, Vasco Da Gama (South Africa).

Serunkuuma walked away with a land title for winning the Phillip Omondi Footballer Of The Year Award while the other two accolades came with shs1,000,000/= each.

However, there were also other big winners on the night and these include:

Young Player of the Year /Jackson Mayanja award: Sadat Anaku U17

Most disciplined player of the year /Tom Lwanga award:
Paul Musamali

Best fan of the year:
Kyazze Khasim famously known for the paint.( he took home 500,000/=)

Best fans branch: Kawempe (They also won it in 2015/16)

Coach Mike Mutebi and his technical team will also share $25,000

The organisers had a surprise package for the parents of players whom they gave 100 USD as a token of appreciation.

This means that almost everyone entailed to the club was recognized in the awarding ceremony that was organized by official club sponsors Startimes together with KCCA FC.
