Gateway will face off with Calvary FC in a promotional final on Saturday 1st-November at 12:00 in Njeru to decide who sportingly joins the FUFA Big League.
This comes as a result of both Hot Springs and Young Elephant each having eight players who tested positive for Covid-19.
Young Elephant was supposed to play against Northern Gateway while Calvary FC was to face off with Hot Springs.
The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has confirmed in an official statement,
“Tests conducted for Young Elephants Football Club from the Northern region and Hot Springs Football Club from West Nile region returned Eight (8) positive results each.
“This is high ratio of infections and could easily endager the entire community of the team.”
The Executive has considered the issues at hand and treated the matter as not provided for under the FUFA Competitions Rules as decided as follows:
1.The play off matches Young Elephants V Northern Gateway and Galvary V Hot Springs is decided in favor of Northern Gateway and Calvary FC.
2.A single match Calvary V Northern Gateway FC to be played on Saturday 31st November 2020 to determine the team that will sportingly be promoted to the 2nd Division 2020/2021.
The winner between Calvary FC and Northern Gateway will join Luweero United, Terrazo and Tiles, Gadaffi to play in the 2020-21 season of the FUFA Big League.
