GADDAFI vs SC VILLA: The Jogoos quest for first away victory

Danito NSUBUGA

Petros Koukouras’ men will be hosted by Jinja neighbors Gaddafi as they search for their first away win of the season.

Villa have been beaten by Mbarara city and held Express FC in their other away matches this term.

Gaddafi on the other hand have picked their only wins while playing at home, they beat Soltilo Bright Stars and Arua Hill at the Gaddafi Arena.

The Jogoos conceded a late Rwothomio Cromwell goal in their previous league match that denied them all three points against a lackluster URA side.

Gaddafi on the other hand haven’t won in their previous three league matches. They drew with BUL, lost to Vipers and held Police 2-2 at Lugogo.

Villa welcome back midfielder Ali Bayo who has missed the previous two matches through injury, he will however start on the bench.

Goalkeeper and captain Meddie Kibirige has recovered from a finger injury that relegated him to the bench against URA. He will however be assessed if he is fit enough to dislodge Martin Senkooto.

Travis Mutyaba travelled with the Cranes for the Tanzania independence cup against the Taifa Stars.

Ronald Sekiganda is still sidelined and may be compelled to undergo another surgery on his knees.

Striker Joel Madondo is the most notable absentee for Gaddafi, he is joined by Andrew Waiswa and Ronald Obele on the sidelines.

The good news for them is the return to fitness of Faisal Muwawu, Paul Musamali, William Otongo and Godwin Kawagga.

Gaddafi’s head coach Peter Onen has highlighted the importance of the match and that it is one from which they expect points to give them safety.

“This is a very demanding match for the two teams, we must approach it with positivity in order to get all points and ensure that we move up to a better position” .
