• Uganda Martyrs HS Lubaga 1-1 UCU Lady Cardinals
• Olila High School 0-1 Kawempe Muslim
Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga were unfortunate not to win all three points against a depleted UCU Lady Cardinals side in the Fufa Women Super League played on Wednesday.
Both sides played out a one-all draw in a thrilling encounter at the St. Gerald’s Stadium in Lubaga.
Latifa Nakasi connected a Kevin Nakachwa ball to give the Lubaga school side an early lead inside the first 10 minutes of the game.
The second half was basically offense against defense as UCU relentlessly searched for a leveller which they couldn’t find until the last minute of the game.
Cissy Nakate used the last chance of the game and capitalized on goalkeeper Brenda Nyayenga’s poor clearance to draw the game at 1-1.
UCU’s coach Christian Magoba attributed his side’s false start to the game to late coming.
” We came late so we had no sufficient warm up hence a slow start but we reacted in the second half and managed to get a point.” Magoba said.
Magoba and UCU missed the services of their star player Hasifa Nassuna who was involved in an accident a day prior to the game.
Besides Nassuna, UCU also missed Joan Kwagala, Mercy Nabulobi, Jauhara Nabaggala and Annet Nakirijja who have been with the South Sudan national team.
The Mukono based club have managed four points from as many matches while Uganda Martyrs have seven points so far.
The other Women Super League game played on the day saw Kawempe Muslim register a slim 1-0 away win over Olila High School in Soroti.
It was a second half goal from U-17 star Margret Kunihira that ensured Kawempe Muslim maintain their 100% record this season.
Ayub Khalifa’s side are second on the table with 12 points, one behind leaders Lady Doves who have played a game more.
The League will resume on Sunday 9th February with four fixtures. Kawempe Muslim will visit Kampala Queens at Kabojja, Olila host She Corporates, UCU welcome a troubled Muteesa University side while Uganda Martyrs take on Lady Doves at Lubaga.
