UCU Lady Cardinals thumped defending champions Lady Doves 5-0 at Mukono in one of the two FUFA Women Super League games played on Saturday.

The encounter was a repeat of last year’s final that saw Lady Doves win the title at the death thanks to Fazila Ikwaput’s heroics.

Harriet Muwugumya, Hasifa Nassuna, Sandra Kisakye, Shadia Nankya and substitute Asiat Nalugwa scored the five goals for UCU.

Muwugumya slotted the University side into an early lead in the 14th minute and ensured a slim halftime lead.

The second half saw UCU run riot with Nassuna doubling the lead in the 65th minute from the penalty mark following a foul on Kisakye.

Defender Nankya put the game beyond reach when she made it 3-0 with her routine free kick conversion in the 73rd minute.

Kisakye grabbed the fourth goal two minutes later following a brilliant interplay before Nalugwa put the icing on the cake in the 84th minute.

The result elevated UCU to nine points from the three games played. They remain the only side with a 100% record.

On contrast, Lady Doves are bottom of the table with only a point garnered from the three games played so far.

The Masindi based side drew goalless in their opening game with new comers She Maroons and lost 3-1 to Uganda Martyrs.

The FUFA Women Super League continues on Sunday with three games on the cards.
