• Kawempe Muslim 4-1 Lady Doves
Call it a sweet revenge for Kawempe Muslim against Lady Doves, a side that subjected them to the only home defeat last season.
Kawempe Muslim consolidated their lead on the top of the Fufa Women Super League table with a commanding 4-1 win over the Masindi based outfit at the school valley ground on Sunday evening.
Ayub Khalifa’s charges scored the four goals through their attacking quartet that has been negotiating life without their injured lead striker Juliet Nalukenge.
Sharon Nadunga, Shamira Nalugya and Margret Kunihira scored in the opening half to ensure a 3-1 halftime lead before Anita Namata put the icing on the cake later on.
Kenyan forward Mary Wanjiku Nafula scored the lone goal for the John Ongodia coached team two minutes after Nadunga had drawn first blood in the 6th minute. Nafula’s goal became the first one to be conceded by Kawempe this season.
The victory implies Kawempe finish the first round as table leaders with 19 points from seven games and sit three points clear of second placed Uganda Martyrs HS.
Lady Doves are third with 13 points from the same number of games. Defeat means they have lost two games in a row following a 2-0 disappointing defeat at Uganda Martyrs last week.
The Fufa Women Super League will be played in a three legged format where by the third round fixtures will be determined by the head to head of particular teams in the first two rounds.
