FWSL : Ikwaput, Nalukenge shine brightly in Lady Doves, Kawempe victories

Fazila Ikwaput became the first player to score a hat trick in the Fufa Women Super League as Lady Doves defeated Muteesa I Royal University 3-0 at Kabojja on Sunday.

Ikwaput was on target for last year’s Elite League finalists in the 16th, 78th and 90th minute.

The result meant that Lady Doves who are coached by John Ongodia top the top-tier league after one game courtesy of a superior goal difference.

Kawempe Muslim were 2-0 winners over Uganda Martyrs Lubaga in the other game played at the school valley ground.

Striker Juliet Nalukenge scored a goal in each half to ensure Ayub Khalifa’s coached team mark a winning start.

Nalukenge, who scored 10 goals last season, opened her account in the 23rd minute before doubling Kawempe’s advantage in the 75th minute.

Kawempe are now second on the log while Kampala Queens who defeated Olila High School 2-1 on Saturday are third.

Elite League champions UCU Lady Cardinals are fourth following a 1-0 win over She Corporates in Mukono on Saturday.

The league will resume next weekend on Saturday 9th November with three games on card.

Kawempe will visit Muteesa I Royal University at Kabojja, Uganda Martyrs host Kampala Queens while Lady Doves will welcome She Corporates in Masindi.
