No Juliet Nalukenge, No Worries! Anita Namata scored the all important goal in the second half as Kawempe Muslim edged Kampala Queens 1-0 in the FUFA Women Super League on Sunday evening at IUIU, Kabojja.

The Ayub Khalifa coached side missed the services of their lead striker Juliet Nalukenge who is nursing an injury sustained in one of the very many national team engagements she has had in the past months.

Kawempe were also dealt by another injury concern after defender Stella Musibika went off the pitch in tears following a harsh challenge from Kampala Queens captain Fauzia Najjemba early in the first half.

Kawempe had to wait until the 66th minute to break the deadlock against Farida Bulega’s charges who had kept on knocking for a breakthrough right from the first half.

Shakira Nyinagahirwa’s brilliance set up Sharon Nadunga whose feeble effort landed in Namata’s way to score the long waited winner.

Kampala Queens nearly scored a leveller right at the death but were denied by Nakibuuka Asia’s goal line clearance with goalkeeper Juliet Adeke already beaten.

Victory sees the four time Women Elite League champions claim top spot with 15 points garnered in five games leapfrogging Lady Doves who dropped to second place with 13 points.

Kampala Queens drop to fourth place with seven points accumulated from six games.

Nakasi Latifa scored a second half brace as Uganda Martyrs High School ended Lady Doves’ unbeaten run in a 2-0 win in a FUFA Women Super League contest played at St. Gerald’s Stadium in Lubaga.

Lady Doves were unbeaten in five games this season until they met the Uganda Martyrs side.

The Masindi based outfit had never lost a league game since their promotion to the Fufa Women Elite League last season. Their only defeat was in the finals against UCU Lady Cardinals at Lugogo.

The result lifts Uganda Martyrs High School to third place on the log with 10 points.

In Soroti, Olila High School beat She Corporates 2-0 to register their first victory of the campaign.

Goals from Amoding Falcao Siporosa and Cecilia Apiding inspired The Soroti outfit to their maiden win after losing their previous four games.

The game between UCU Lady Cardinals and Muteesa I Royal University wasn’t played since the latter couldn’t raise the minimum number of players required for a game to kick off.

The Fufa Women Super League will resume in the mid-week with two games. Kawempe visit She Corporates at Luzira while Uganda Martyrs host Olila at Lubaga.

Summary Of Sunday Results.

Olila H/S 2-0 She Corporates

Uganda Martyrs Lubaga 2-0 Lady Doves

Kampala Queens 0-1 Kawempe Muslim
