FWEL: She Maroons qualify for quarters after comeback win over Wakiso Hill

Winnie Kyomugisha scored two goals that gave She Maroons a deserved victory.

She Maroons came from a goal down to edge Wakiso Hill 2-1 as match day 2 of Group D of the FUFA Women Elite League took center stage at Njeru.

The comeback victory sent She Maroons to the quarter finals having garnered six points from the two games played.

Faridah Nanyonjo had put Wakiso Hill in the lead but substitute Winnie Kyomugisha scored two goals that gave She Maroons a deserved victory.

Nanyonjo struck from a free kick two minutes to the mandatory halftime break before Kyomugisha equalized in the similar manner in the 50th minute.

Kyomugisha completed the comeback when she converted from the penalty mark in the 63rd minute after a foul by Wakiso Hill goalkeeper Zulaika Ayikoru. Kyomugisha took her tally to three goals.

It’s now official She Maroons will face Ajax Queens in the quarter finals having led the group already.

They will however play against Lango Queens in their final group game slated for Friday.

Wakiso Hill and Echoes Women Football Club are tied on one point each whereas Lango Queens have two points now.

Lango Queens drew 1-1 with Echoes Women Football in the other group game played on the day.

Wakiso Hill will need nothing but victory when they face Echoes in the final game on Friday.
