Defending champions Kawempe Muslim became the first team to book a place in this season’s play offs after edging Ajax Queens 2-0 at Buddo.

Late goals from Juliet Nalukenge and Asia Nakibuuka ensured Ayub Khalifa’s charges walk to the play offs with four games to spare.

Just like in the previous three meetings, Kawempe had to wait until the closing stages of the game to break Ajax Queens’ resilience.

The game had staled at goalless until Nalukenge broke the deadlock with her 10th goal of the season in the 75th minute before Nakibuuka made it 2-0 at the stroke of full-time.

The hard fought win took Kawempe to 28 points garnered from 10 games and ultimately sealed a berth in the playoffs for the fifth time in a row.

Elsewhere in Mukono, Hasifa Nassuna scored a hat trick as UCU Lady Cardinals outclassed Isra Soccer Academy 4-2 in the only Elizabeth group game on the day.

Nassuna’s hat trick took her season tally to 12 goals

Kenyan born striker Maureen Kinavudori netted the other goal for UCU while Isra’s two goals were scored by Fauzia Najjemba.

While Nassuna tops with scoring chats, Najjemba is joint second with Kawempe’s Nalukenge at 10 goals each.

The win temporarily takes the University side on the summit of the Elizabeth group with 21 points and await for a result from Kampala Queens’ game with Olila on Sunday.

Asubo-Gafford Ladies and Muteesa I Royal University settled for a 1-1 draw at Kabojja. Elizabeth Nakigozi scored for the university side while Sheebah Zalwango scored for Asubo-Gafford Ladies.

She Corporates rallied to salvage a 1-1 against Rines SS WFC at MUBS Arena in Nakawa. Jackie Nassali gave Rines a halftime lead before mid-season signing Favour Nambatya got off the mark in the second half.

The league will continue on Sunday with four games at Soroti, Masindi, Lubiri SS and in Lira.

Olila go toe to toe with Kampala Queens at Olila grounds in Soroti while Uganda Martyrs play host to lowly placed Town View SS at Lubiri SS.
