FWEL : Lady Doves edge Muteesa I Royal University

Muteesa I Royal University 1-2 Lady Doves

Grace Babirye struck late for Lady Doves to edge Muteesa I Royal University 2-1 in a rare Friday kick off of the FUFA Women Elite League at Wankulukuku.

Muteesa I Royal University who had a perfect start to this season with 2 wins, have now lost three consecutive games.

Kenyan striker Veronica Zeddy opened the scores with her third goal of the season from a well laid Rahma Namugenye cross in the 3rd minute.

The hosts responded through an unmarked Janat Thungu who finished off a delivery from Habiba Nakayobo to level scores with 15 minutes to normal time.

With the game destined for a 1-1 stalemate, second half substitute Grace Babirye thumped home the winner for the Masindi outfit inside the added minutes.

Lady Doves now lie 2nd, with 9 points in the Victoria group table, one below pacesetter Kawempe Muslim.

Defeat slumps Muteesa to the 5th place on 6 points with 0 goal difference.
