FWEL: Kawempe topples Muteesa as Gafford Ladies get off the mark

Holders Kawempe Muslim put a halt on Muteesa I Royal University’s 100% record with a 2-0 win in the Elite league match played at the Kawempe valley on Sunday.

First half goals from Juliet Nalukenge and Anita Namata were enough to ensure the school side dislodges Muteesa from the summit of the Victoria group.

In another Victoria group encounter played at Wakisha grounds, Asubo-Gafford Ladies edged Rines SS with a slender 1-0 victory to claim their first win of the season thanks to Sheeba Zalwango’s strike.

Kawempe now tops the group with 7 points garnered from 3 games while Muteesa and Ajax Queens follow with 6 points each.

Kampala Queens and Olila High school WFC settled for a 1-1 draw in the only game played in the Elizabeth group at the Old Kampala primary school playground.

Veteran player Annet Nakimbugwe had given the Farida Bulega coached side the lead at the start of the second period but Siporosa Amoding tied the contest in the 70th minute.

The FUFA Women Elite League will return on Monday November 5th with one fixture on card. UCU Lady Cardinals make a long trip to Lira to take on new league entrants Lango Queens.
