Norah Alupo scored a brace and inspired Bunyaruguru Girls FC to a 2-1 win over Wakiso Hill Women Football in the FUFA Women Elite League third place play off.
Alupo scored the opener in the 20th minute and completed her brace 20 minutes into the second half.
The Crested Cranes forward broke the deadlock when she brilliantly beat her marker at the edge of the box and sent a low shot that squeezed it’s way through the hands of goalkeeper Zulaika Ayikoru.
Midfielder Sarah Namatovu Tita levelled the scores for Wakiso Hill with a superb header from a corner kick in the 28th minute.
At 1-1, Alupo rose the occasion again and restored Bunyaruguru’s lead with another brilliant finish after going one one with the keeper five minutes past the hour mark.
Alupo, formely of Olila High School and Lango Queens, took her tally to the six goals, one ahead of She Maroons’ Millicent Namwembe.
The slim 2-1 win over Wakiso Hill elevated Bunyaruguru to a podium finish behind the two finalists and a money prize of UGX 3.5M.
Coming into the third place play off, Bunyaruguru lost to Rines Women Football Club on penalties while Wakiso Hill fell 1-0 to She Maroons.
She Maroons and Rines booked slots in the 2021/22 FUFA Women Super League.
