FUFA Women’s Cup: Lady Doves edge out She Corporates to seal final berth

She Corporates 2(3) – 2(4) Lady Doves

Lady Doves became the first team to book a berth in this year’s FUFA Women’s Cup final.

To achieve the feat, the Masindi based outfit had to edge She Corporates courtesy of a penalty shoot out following a 2-2 draw in full time at the MUBS Arena in Nakawa.

The hosts took an early lead through Betty Namataka who exquisitely finished off Cissy Nantongo’s pass inside the first 15 minutes.

Lady Doves fought back through Nulu Nakyanzi at the half hour mark.

Moments later, Christine Nambirigge converted Madam Christine’s cross into her own net to give Oliver Mbekeka’s team the lead for the first time.

She Corporates levelled the scores through substitute Dorcus Namukisa with barely two minutes to normal time.

The full time stalemate called for an immediate penalty shoot out which saw Lady Doves emerge 4-3 winners.

Cissy Nantongo’s penalty was saved by Daisy Nakaziro while Jackie Ogol shot wide.

Gladys Nakitto was the only Lady Doves’ player to miss from the penalty mark.

Lady Doves will play against the winner between Echoes High School and She Mak who plays in the second semi final on Monday in Soroti.

The final will be played on June 8th at a venue yet to be communicated.
