The federation of Uganda football associations and the Uganda premier league have signed a sponsorship deal worth 3,000,000 dollars to run for 4 years effective June 1st 2018 until July 31st 2022.
The deal will see Sports Broadcasting Ltd take over commercial and media rights of the Uganda premier league, the FUFA Big League and the F. A cup (Uganda Cup) for the 4 years.
Sports Broadcasting is a Ugandan sports production and marketing company committed to the strategic development of sports content, disseminated through various media channels including television, radio and online. Their other partners are Prime media Uganda Ltd.
The deal will see Sports Broadcasting inject 600,000 USD in cash to the Uganda premier league, 80,000 USD to the FUFA Big League and 70, 000 USD to the Uganda Cup every year.
Announcing the deal, FUFA president Moses Magogo highlighted the benefits of a solid transparent governance he put in place at FUFA as one of the key aspects that have helped attract these investments into Ugandan football.
“What we have witnessed today is a new dawn and a beginning of an avalanche of sponsors into the Ugandan sports industry”.
” FUFA has constructed solid governance to club football and financing combined with the education of the technical administrative human resource , professionalism is entrenched at all levels. This has given birth to commercialisation and yielded more resources for the betterment of the game.
On behalf of Sports Broadcasting Ltd, Managing direct Denis Mbidde commended FUFA’s efforts in professionalising the game. He said,
“In the last decade, FUFA management has done a commendable job of professionalising football in Uganda. We are now moving on to the next phase of commercialising football and television is a great step.”

The current Azam deal will expire on the 31st of May and the new era of Sports Broadcasting will be ushered in effective 1st June 2018.
