In a letter dated 31st August 2021 addressed to the acting CEO Shaun Mubiru, The FUFA Vice Chief Executive Mr. Decolas Kiiza has warned that Uganda’s record league champions SC Villa risk forfeiture of their licence to participate in association football.

The development comes following an aborted election that was supposed to be concluded on the 28th of August this year.

Candidate Denis Mbidde through a member of his proposed executive committee petitioned court to suspend the election due to purported malpractices and that the election was not carried out according to the law.

The complainant asked court to call off the election which the former adhered to and ordered the chairman electoral commission to suspend the activity.

Yesterday 30th August 2021, court adjudged that the Villa VMT register be reorganised and annuling the current one in the process.

Court further ordered that the current electoral commission be resolved and a new one put in place so that a fresh election process is organised with all members fully sensitised.

Court also ruled that a new interim leadership be installed by the club Registered Board of Trustees.

FUFA directs that Villa’s electoral matters being subject to court address is tantamantino to the FIFA international statutes that bars  football matters to be ruled by courts of law.

Villa being one of the 34 direct members that comprise FUFA, they are subject to FUFA, CAF and FIFA statutes, regulations, decisions and directives which Villa signed to and approved by FUFA .

Therefore, FUFA addresses that,

1. Matters of the election were subjected to ordinary courts of law and a consent of judgement has been reached which is in contravention to the FUFA , CAF and FIFA statutes

2. The registered Trustees have no powers to appoint an interim committee as ordered by court and this is also in contravention of the CAF, FUFA and FIFA statutes.

It is only a preserve of only the Club Congress to appoint the club executive leadership as opposed to the court ruling.

There fore, Villa have been asked to put all this into order before the 7th of September 2021, lest the matters will be referred to the FUFA Judicial body which may rescind, cancel or even revoke the club’s licence to participation in association football.
