FUFA Drum: Buganda earns slim 1st leg advantage over Kampala

Buganda province edged Kampala province 1-0 to claim a first leg advantage in the FUFA Drum quarterfinals at Bishops ground in Mukono.

In the 6th minute, Buganda was awarded a penalty after Kampala goalkeeper Hamza Muwonge brought down Allan Kayiwa inside the 18 yards box.

Shafiq Kagimu was entrusted with the responsibility and converted it calmly to give Alex Isabirye’s side an early lead.

Martin Kizza had a chance to equalise in the 13th minute but Buganda custodian Nicholas Sebwato calmly gathered his effort.

At the stroke of halftime, Buganda had a chance to double their lead when Patrick Kaddu was fed by Allan Kayiwa but the striker headed wide.

Early in the second period Nelson Senkatuka squandered Kampala’s best chance with only the keeper to beat.

Buganda tactician Alex Isabirye brought on Baker Buyala for Viane Sekajugo and Frank Senabulya for Shafiq Kagimu.

Kampala region made the following changes, Allan Kyambadde for Joseph Nsubuga, Faizal Muwawu for Willy Kavuma and Ambrose Kirya for Ibrahim Kayiwa.

The game ended with the hosts Buganda region taking a 1-0 first leg advantage and the two sides will next face off on 7/8th July 2018.
