FUFA Big League side Calvary FC names new coaching staff

FUFA Big League club Calvary FC have appointed Godfrey Akena as their new head coach.

Akena, a CAF B license holder, replaces Ahmed Borini Olima who resigned from the same role in May.

Akena has previously coached Gulu United in the lower divisions and notably guided Acholi Province to winning the second edition of the FUFA Drum tournament.

He will be assisted by John Peter Ongodia who parted ways with Blacks Power FC (formerly known as Bukedea Town Council) due to personal reasons.

Ongodia is a former coach at She Corporates, Olila High School, Lady Doves, Rwandan side Sunrise and FUFA Big League side Blacks Power, a side he guided to the promotional play offs.

The goalkeeping coach will be Charles Ogengo formerly of Gulu United.

Calvary completed the recently concluded FUFA Big League season with 19 points from 14 games finishing 6th on the Elgon Group table and narrowly survived relegation in their debut season.
