Kirinya Jinja SS Fc cruised 1-0 passed Arua outfit Onduparaka at Kyabazinga Stadium Bugembe to go fifth on the Azam Uganda Premier League log.
The host began the game on a high with Fred Amaku and Musa Esenu combining well in the opening stages to set up Makon Laundry whose effort kissed the crossbar.
Bashir Mutanda also had his long-range shot saved by Nicholas Sebwato in the 5th minute
In the 15th minute, Fred Amaku capitalized on a defensive error from Hassan Muhammad who failed to clear from danger a long ball from Godfrey Akol that was brushed off by Musa Esenu. Amaku scored against his former employees as he registered his 7th league goal of the current season.
The first period broke off with Fred Amaku goal separating the two sides but Kirinya were the dominant side altogether.
In resumption of the game, the Arua outfit had a chance to level in the 55th minute through a free kick outside the box only to see Gaddafi Gadinho miss by an inch.
With the visitors chasing the game they introduced on Samson Ceasar Okhuti and Wesley Kisakye who was making his debut to boost their attack in places of Ezra Bida and Gaddafi Gadinho in the 58th and 65th minute respectively
Fred Amaku had an open chance to double his side’s advantage in the 73rd minute after connecting brilliantly with Anthony Mayanja but his shot went wide.
With 8 minutes to the 90, made their last change with Mubiru Yafesi paving way for another debutant Malish Jamal.
The game ended 1-0 in favour of Kirinya who go in 5th place with 28 points while their days opponents Onduparaka are a place above them with 29 points accumulated in 19 league games.
Kirinya will next host UPDF at Bugembe on 9th March while Onduparaka will welcome table leaders on 10th March at Betway Greenlight Stadium.
