Joseph Janjali has completed his move to join Soltilo Bright Stars on a permanent two year deal.

Janjali officially parted ways with Vipers SC who had loaned him at Bright Stars during the previous campaign.

He was Soltilo Bright Stars’ top scorer last season with six goals and helped the club secure safety as the league was abruptly ended due to the pandemic outbreak in the country.

URA FC and SC Villa were the other Uganda Premier League side who had expressed interest in signing the former UPDF FC forward but neither of the two reached compromise with the player’s representative.

Janjali is a former player of Buddu and Gomba in Buganda’s Airtel Masaza Cup who elevated to the top-flight league in January 2018 at UPDF.

He made a move to Vipers at the start of the 2018-19 season but couldn’t command a starting place at Kitende and was subsequently loaned out to Bright Stars where he established himself as the club’s marksman.

Bright Stars have gone on to sign Jamir Nvule Kisitu from Kitara FC, Samson Mutyaba (Kyetume), Samuel Sekamatte Kayongo (formerly at Red Arrows in Zambia), Ibrahim Kibumba (SC Villa), Saddam Masereka (BUL FC), Benson Wagima (Busoga United) and youngsters Warren Buule, Emmanuel Loki, Marvin Ssemayange and Gabriel Elagu.

Defenders Derrick Ngoobi and Andrew Kaggwa alongside midfielder Henry Kiwanuka have already signed contract extensions while Jamil Kaliisa left for Vipers SC.

Baker Mboowa will serve as the club’s head coach while Simon Peter Mugerwa will be his immediate assistant.

Bright Stars who have now changed their name to Soltilo Bright Stars this week, finished 12th last season with 29 points accumulated from the 25 games played
