Forward Derrick Mudaali joins Maroons FC

Derrick Mudaali has agreed terms of a two year contract with FUFA Big League side Maroons Football Club.

Mudaali has been playing for Kigezi Football Club in the regional league for the last two seasons.

His move to Maroons FC comes after the Charles Ayiekoh coached side have signed central midfielder Nelson Mandela from Busoga United and Luweero United goalkeeper Amir Nalugoda.

Mudaali plays as a forward for Kigezi Province in the FUFA Drum tournament and has also previously featured for Buwekula and Gomba in the Airtel Masaza Cup tournement.

He also played for both Kampala University and Uganda Marytrs University Nkozi in the University Football League, Kirima FC in Kanungu as well as Juventus Namasuba.

Maroons have so far lost goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo who joined URA FC, Felix Okot (Kyetume FC), Steven Mukwala who left for greener pastures while Pius Obuya’s next destination remains uncertain.

16 year goalkeeper Walter Chandia has been promoted to the senior team and will compete with the newly acquired Nalugoda and Emmanuel Akol for the first choice slot.

Long serving players Maxwell Okello, Sylvester Okello, Sydney Chika, Emmanuel Olinga and Yahya Luuti have all been rewarded with contract extensions.

Maroons FC will be aiming for a promotion back to the Uganda Premier League after being relegated last season when the league was abruptly ended.

The 2020-21 FUFA Big League season is tentatively expected to kick off on the 29th October 2020.
