Botswana Premier League side Jwaneng Galaxy FC have parted ways with former Vipers head coach Miguel Da Costa Duarte following a string of unconvincing results.

The Portuguese tactician was shown the exit door after a 1-0 defeat to Security Systems FC.

The disappointing defeat was on the back of a surprising 1-1 draw with lowly placed Tafic FC and an exit from the Mascom Top 8 Cup.

Jwaneng Galaxy were eliminated from the Mascom Top 8 by Lawrence Ndugga’s Orapa United in the semi finals. Ndugga scored in both legs of the semi finals including a sublime free kick in the second leg.

Da Costa was appointed as Jwaneng Galaxy head coach on a three year contract in July 2018 soon after leaving Vipers SC.

His major achievement at the club was winning the 2018 Mascom Super 8 Cup and finishing second in the league.

Da Costa was head coach at Vipers between July 2017 – 2018 July before he was shown exit despite winning the 2017-18 Uganda Premier League title.

He leaves Jwaneng Galaxy third on the table with 39 points as Oris Radipotsane takes over as a caretaker manager.

Ndugga’s Orapa United lead the league table with 40 points while Township Rollers are fourth with 37 points.

Township Rollers is home to hard tackling midfielder Ivan Mboowa.

Other Ugandan players in Botswana are Deus Bukenya and Martin Opolot both at Prisons XI and Nasir Mbabali of Extension Gunners.
