Former URA striker joins Wazito FC

Ugandan striker Mathew Odong Tayo has joined Kenya Premier League side Wazito Football Club.

Odong Tayo joined the KPL newbies on an undisclosed period contract before being unveiled on Saturday.

The move comes a month after being deemed surplus to requirements at URA and marks his return to the Kenyan top-flight league after a year.

Odong has previously played for Tusker FC on two spells and Kariobangi Sharks.

“I am happy to join Wazito. It’s a big team with big plans and I will give my best in training and in games. To the fans, I urge them to rally behind the team and we will give our best to make them happy.” Odong said on arrival

The striker who can also play as a winger sprung to prominance in 2014 with the now defunct SC Victoria University but also played for Amazon FC, Kampala University and Bulo Parents in the past.

He joins Mansoor Safi Agu another Ugandan who recently signed for Wazito FC as well as Karim Nizigiyimana the former Vipers right back.

Wazito FC have been busy in the transfer window as they look to challenge Gor Mahia for the league title.

They opened up their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Nzoia Sugar on Saturday but will face Western Stima in their next game in two weeks time.
