Former Kira Young striker dies of Hepatitis B

SINAN RAJUB SENOGA

Former Kira Young striker Richard “Banda” Ssemwegerere succumbed to Hepatitis B on Friday afternoon.

Banda as commonly known was bedridden for the last couple of days before he breathed his last at Angelina Hospital in Namugongo, Kira Municipality.

At the time of his death, Ssemwogerere was on the books of Buganda Regional League side Buikwe Red Stars FC.

He famously played for the now defunct Kira Young until their relegation at the end of the 2014-15 season.

The fallen striker played for Kira United until January this season, Kireka United, Kamuli Park and Artland Katale among others but also had a stint in Kenya.

Ssemwogerere was a multi talented young man who also had a knack of acting and notably acted as “Larry” in the movie “Had I Known”

For starters, Hepatitis B is a viral infection caused by the HBV virus which attacks the liver and causes liver damage, liver failure as well as liver cancer.

Ssemwogerere will be laid to rest at his eternal home in Kisoga, Mukono district on Saturday afternoon.

We belong to Him and to Him we shall return. May the fallen striker Rest In Eternal Peace. Ameen.
