Ugandan forward Hassan Kikoyo has joined Rwandan top-flight outfit Gasogi United FC on a two and half year contract.
Kikoyo who will wear the club’s number 19 jersey, has been a free agent after leaving Western Stima in the Kenyan Premier League this January.
In Uganda, Kikoyo featured as a winger for Bright Stars and the now defunct Lweza FC before crossing boarders to Kenya.
He thereafter played for Muhoroni Youth and Kakamega Homeboyz between 2017-19 before joining Western Stima.
He becomes the third Ugandan player to move to Rwanda in the ongoing transfer window. Others are defender Ayub Kizza who joined Sunrise and striker Alex Kitatta who is at Kiyovu Sports Club.
He also joins other Ugandan players plying their trade in the Rwandan top-tier who include Pius Wangi and Sulaiman Majanjalo at Sunrise FC, Mutebi Rashid and Stephen Ategeka of Enticelles FC, Fred Kyambadde (Espoir FC) and AS Kigali goalkeeper Shamir Batte.
Kikoyo’s new club, Gasogi United are based in capital of Kigali and host their league games at the Stade de Kigali.
They were promoted to the topflight at the start of the ongoing season but currently lie ninth on the 18-team table with 22 points after 18 games.
Kikoyo is expected to make his debut on 7th February when Gasogi visit Police FC in their subsequent league game.
