FEASSSA GAMES : Kitende edge Buddo to win East African title

St. Mary’s Kitende defeated rivals Buddo Secondary School 1-0 to win the FEASSSA championship in the Boys’ football category.

Striker Umar Kyebatala scored the vital goal when both sides faced off on Saturday at the Sheikh Obeid stadium in Arusha, Tanzania.

Assisted by Steven Serwadda, Kyebatala fired home the winner and his fifth goal of the tournament inside the first 20 minutes of the game.

St. Mary’s Kitende had defeated fellow compatriots Jinja SS (semi finals) and Standard High Zzana (quarter finals) enroute the final.

Buddo overcame Kenya’s Dagoreti in the semi final thanks to Frank Sebuffu’s lone strike.

The triumph means Kitende have now won the regional title for the 13th time since 2002.

Elsewhere, Kawempe Muslim edged fellow Ugandans Mukono High 1-0 to win the Girls’ football thanks to Shakira Nyinagahirwa extra time goal.

St. Mary’s Kitende were also winners of the Netball championship for the 16th time.

Standard High Zzana won the Boys’ Volleyball title while Mbogo High School scooped the Badminton championship.

Both Basketball titles were won by Ugandan sides with Buddo SS taking the Boys’ whilst St. Noah Girls taking the Girls’ category.

The next edition of the Federation Of East African Secondary School Sports Association (FEASSSA) games will be held in Kakamega, Kenya next year.
