Youngster Shakira Nyinagahirwa scored the all important goal for the Ayub Khalifa coached side in the extra time.

Kawempe, who eliminated Kenya’s Nyagach on the semi final level via penalties, remain the only Ugandan side ever to win the regional championship.

Their first ever triumph came in 2012 in Bujumbura, Burundi. Prior to this year’s tournament, Kawempe had emerged losing finalists in the previous two edition in Rwanda (2018) and Gulu, Uganda (2017).

Mukono High’s inspirational skipper Fauzia Najjemba emerged as the tournament top scorer with nine goals, two ahead of Kawempe’s Juliet Nalukenge.

The next edition of the Federation Of East African Secondary School Sports Association (FEASSSA) games will be held in Kakemega, Kenya next year.
