Favourites Buddo, Jinja S.S and Kitende through as Copa reaches round of 16

16 Schools have progressed to the round of 16 at the 27th edition of the Copa Coca-Cola Schools Cup. 59 schools took part in the event and were grouped into eight. This means that 43 have been eliminated at the group stage.

Jinja Secondary School defeated Bulo Parents 1-0 courtesy of Lawrence Tezikya’s first half goal and the two qualify for the next level from group F.

Reigning champions Buddo Secondary School lost to record Champions Kibuli Secondary School 1-0 in group H courtesy of Nicholas Luzige’s lonely strike.

The result saw both sides go on level with 15 points but Buddo Secondary School top group H on goal difference.

St Henry’s Kitovu defeated Nyangilia 2-0 going to 14 points leapfrogging St Julian who had already completed their games a day before and the two are through at the round of 16.

St Mary’s Kitende and Mbarara High School played to a one-all stalemate in their last group game at Kakindu Stadium.

Titus Wambedde scored for Mbarara High School while Abdul Karim Watambala scored for St Mary’s Kitende.

Mbarara High School went in this game with 10 points after deduction of 3 points for using an ineligible player.

This stalemate saw 2015 champions St Mary’s Kitende top group E with 16 points and Nakaseke International College come second with 13 points hence progressing to the round of 16.
