Express FC will be seeking to end the first round on a high when they host Soltilo Bright Stars on Friday, 7th January at the Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
Express are aiming for a third consecutive win after managing back to back victories for the first time this season. Wasswa Bbosa’s charges needed a Martin Kizza brace to beat Tooro United 2-0 in their last league outing.
Bright Stars who edged SC Villa 1-0 for only their second win this term are also in searching for consecutive wins this campaign.
What they say
Express FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa
“Since we returned from Fort Portal, we’ve tried to correct a few mistakes ahead of the game against Soltilo Bright Stars on Friday. They could be struggling but I believe they’re a decent side but we want to win the game, we want to reduce the gap between us and the table leaders. I’d generally say we had a slow start in the beginning but that was because the players were fatigued but we’ve managed to pick ourselves up hence the good run.”
Bright Stars midfielder Marvin Joseph Youngman
“We have prepared well and corrected the mistakes against SC Villa. We are ready to take on Express since we want to end the first round with maximum points.” Revealed the midfielder.
The hosts will welcome back the duo of Nicholas Kasozi and Yaya Mahad who missed the trip to Tooro United due to suspension.
The game however comes too early for the injured duo of Arthur Kiggundu and Abel Eturude. Defender Murushid Juuko will require a late fitness test.
Bright Stars have a fully fit squad and will heavily rely on Nelson Senkatuka for maximum points.
This will be the 16 meeting between the two sides, In the previous meetings Express managing 5 victories, 3 for Bright Stars and 7 have ended in stalemates.
Current league Positions
The Red Eagles are currently third on the Uganda Premier League with 26 points while Bright Stars are 14th with just 10 points.
