Express, Maroons settle for a one all stalemate

Maroons FC 1-1 Express FC

Maroons FC and Express FC played to a 1-1 draw in the Thursday Premier League action at Luzira Prisons.

Tony Odur scored for Express at the stoke of halftime before Ronald Orombi tied the contest with his second goal in two games deep in the second half.

Kefa Kisala was boasted by the return of Odur who had missed the club’s 2-1 win against Nyamityobora due to injury.

Odur gave the travelling fans something to celebrate about when he struck home a rebound from Badru Nsubuga’s effort that had rattled the woodwork in the 44th minute.

Express were dealt by a nasty injury of Shafik Nana Kakeeto who awkwardly landed on his shoulder and his place was taken up by Isaac Mutanga 10 minutes after the recess.

Maroons equalized through Orombi who slotted home a spilt Brian Majwega effort by keeper Ronald Mutebi in the 74th minute.

A point earned sends Express to the 7th place on 20 points while the Prison Warders move to the 12th position with 14 points.

Maroons will pay a trip to Arua to face Paidha Black Angels in the final round of the first round next Thursday while Express will host Ndejje University.

In the other Uganda Premier League game played on the day, debutants Nyamityobora FC and Paidha Black Angels played to a goalless draw.
