Relegation threatened Maroons FC host Express in the only Thursday league game at the Luzira Prisons Grounds.

The game will see the two sides face off for the third time this season having recently met in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32.

Express will be hoping for revenge on a side that bundled them out of the Uganda Cup on penalties following a 3-3 draw in normal time about a month ago.

Maroons coach Douglas Bamweyana is on borrowed time following the club’s huge slump in performance in the second round.

The Prison Warders come into this encounter on back of a 5-0 defeat to Vipers at Kitende. Express also lost their last game 2-1 to URA at Wankulukuku.

Only one place separates both sides on the table with Express 12th and four points above Maroons.

Maroons have no room for error since they are just hovering above the relegation line by only two points.

Express will be welcoming captain Disan Galiwango who has been sick but is not expected to command a starting slot. Goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga will be the captain of the team.

Wasswa Bbosa is expected to rely on strikers Eric Kambale and Frank Kalanda who scored his 10th goal of the season against URA.

The league leading scorer Steven Dese Mukwala (13 goals) is expected to return after missing the trip to Vipers who are his parent club.

Just like Maroons coach Bamweyana, players such as Edgar Bwogi, Davis Mayanja and David Ndihabwe will be facing their former side.

The last 12 meetings between both sides have seen five wins for Express, five draws and two victories for Maroons.

The reverse fixture ended 2-2 at Njeru with Kalanda and Frank Ssenyondo scoring for the Red Eagles while Mukwala and Fred Amaku found target for Maroons.
