Express FC to play match against URA behind closed doors

Express FC will play their next home game against URA FC on Tuesday 25th February at Kavumba behind closed doors.

The decision was made by the FUFA Competitions Displinary Panel (CDP) following the misconduct of Express FC fans during the club’s game against Maroons.

Express fans pelted objects to the assistant referee in their Stanbic Uganda Cup against Maroons on Tuesday 12th and the game had to stop for four minutes until Police was deployed to protect the assistant referee.

The fans also went on to break the driving mirror on the Maroons’ bus as stated by Maroons FC in their petition.

The panel has also banned an Express fan Hakeem Ssemanda Mugiraneza “Kawonawo” from attending all football matches across the country for a period of 10 months.

This is the second time in four years Express will play a home game close doors. In the 2017-18 season, Express hosted Bright Stars at Wankulukuku in a game that had no spectators following the fans misconduct on the match officials in the previous home game against Kirinya Jinja SSS.

The Red Eagles who face KCCA FC in their next game on Saturday at Lugogo, are currently 10th on the log with 27 points.
