Express FC succumb to a 5-0 mauling at the hands of Vipers

Daniel Mzee Serunkuma was the tormentor in chief as Vipers SC white washed Express FC with a 5-0 defeat, a result that puts them to within touching distance of the championship.

Express FC looked motivated and determined for a positive result and they enjoyed more possession for the first half hour.

Their dominance however counted for nothing as it was Vipers to break the deadlock on 41 minutes through defender Geoffrey Wasswa.

A minute later, Vipers were awarded with a penalty which Daniel Mzee Serunkuuma effortlessly converted to extend Vipers’ lead and sent the game into the break with Vipers leading.

On return from the break, Serunkuuma capitalised on a defensive howler by Hitimana and his goal keeper Godwin Buule to score into an empty net.

Sserunkuma completed his hat trick with an other poacher’s finish to send his season tally to 16 and he stands as the league’s top scorer.

Duncan Seninde completed the drubbing with a close range tap in following an inter change of passes and good combination from the Vipers’ forwards.

Express XI

There was however further drama after stadium announcer informed the anxious fans that KCCA Vs BUL had ended in a stalemate which meant Vipers would be crowned champions.

Moments later, news came in that Derrick Nsibambi had won it for KCCA at the death, putting the wild celebrations at a standstill and Vipers will now need to beat UPDF FC on Friday 25th at St Mary’s Stadium whereas KCCA will visit Police.

Express’ heaviest defeat of the season leaves them at risk of relegation but they will stay up if they manage to beat bottom placed Masavu at Bugonga. They currently sit 15th on the log with 28 points with a goal difference of -7.
