EXPRESS 2-1 KIRINYA: Umonyi, Kiggundu hand Ssemwogerere 2nd home win

Express FC cruised to a 2-1 victory over Kirinya Jinja SS to return to winning ways at Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wankululuku.

The result was a great response to George Ssimwogerere’s side 3-1 defeat at the hands of KCCA FC last weekend.

The home side were without Tony Odur, Eric Kambale and skipper Isaac Mutanga due to respective injuries. Frank Tumwesigye “Zaga” was also out of the contest.

Kirinya on the other hand missed the services of injured firing duo of Joel Madondo and David Bagoole.

Brian Umony gave the Wankululuku outfit the lead at an half-hour mark with a powerful diving header off a perfect Disan Galiwango quality cross.

Two minutes after the recess, Kirinya tactician introduced on Jeromy Kirya for Nelson Mandela.

At the hour mark, Kirya leveled matters with a well taken free kick that beat Express custodian Mathias Muwanga.

Moments later, defender Arthur Kiggundu found the match winner with a long ball that found Kirinya goalkeeper Sanon Mulabi who was off his line.

Badru Nsubuga ( Express FC) and Isma Kawawulo were the only players cautioned on the evening.

Ssimwogerere made the following changes, Billy Nkata for Disan Galiwango and Ivan Ocholit for Brian Umony.

Kirinya head coach Abbey Kikomeko withdrew George Kasonko and Julius Debbo for Anthony Mayanja and Fred Amaku respectively.

The Red Eagles are 11th on the log with 36 points and will return to action with a Uganda Cup semifinal first leg against Bright Stars on 28th April at Mwerwere Champions Stadium before facing the same side in the league on May 1st.
