Newly appointed Cranes tactician Johnny McKinstry has promised to introduce and expansive style of football that will guarantee goals and entertainment. He has also vowed to guide Uganda to the FIFA World cup 2022 in Qatar
During his unveiling at FUFA house on Monday morning, the Northern Irishman said,
“I am honoured and excited to have been appointed as the new national team head coach and i am looking forward to working with the quality group of players.
My target is to guide the team to the 2022 World Cup, it’s tough but achievable and we shall try to make it.” In case we fail then we shall try 2026.”

The 34 year old also promised attacking football to the Uganda Cranes fans
“I want play attacking football so as to entertain the fans, i want to score goals and also implement my strategy of winning.”
Football is not like cinema, sometimes we shall play a certain style of football to look for results so as to meet our targets.” Stated Mckinstry.
He will temporarily work with Abdallah Mubiru, Livingstone Mbabazi and Shadiq Wassa who have been serving on interim basis.
Mckinstry beat 107 other coaches to land the Cranes coaching role.
