Uganda Cranes captain Emmanuel Arnold Okwi is set to complete his move to Rwanda Premier League club Kiyovu Sports Club, Swift Sports has learnt.
Okwi is in Kigali where he is expected to conclude negotiations with Kiyovu SC.
He has been a free agent after his two year contract with Egyptian club Al Ittihad Alexandria expired in June this year.
The versatile attacker was named the Cranes skipper in May but he was excluded from the team’s squad to face Rwanda this month
Okwi has previously been linked to a return to Simba SC of Tanzania as well as a move to South Africa’s Chippa United.
He has had three stints with SC Villa and Tanzanian champions Simba SC. He also played for Young Africans (Tanzania), Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia) and Denmark’s SønderjyskE.
He is set to become the third Ugandan player to join Rwandan clubs in the current transfer window after Ben Ocen (Musanze FC) and goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato.
Kiyovu SC are six time winners of the Rwandan League. They will be coached by Haringingo Francis.
