Express FC succumbed to their 11th defeat of the season after falling to Mbarara City 1-0 in one of the four UPL games played on Sunday.
The struggling Red Eagles have lost four of their last five games which leaves them just a spot and a point above the relegation line.
South Sudanese striker Wol Makweth scored the decisive goal for Mbarara City from an Ibrahim Orit ball in the 54th minute.
The result intensifies the relegation fears for Express who will have to negotiate their stay in the league at the expense of Police (21 points), Kyetume (22 points) and the in-form Bright Stars (20 points) as of now among others.
The six time champions have only managed to collect 21 points having won six games and drew thrice in the 20 games played so far.
The George Ssimwogerere coached will make a trip to Onduparaka in Arua in their next game slated for Friday 7th February.
Mbarara City who are now eighth on the UPL table with 26 points, will host Police FC in their next game at Bombo.
