ELGON GROUP : Wakiso Giants maintain steady run with victory over JMC Hippos

Wakiso Giants edged JMC Hippos 2-0 in the FUFA Big League match played at the Kyabazinga stadium in Bugembe, Jinja on Thursday 7th February.

Strikers Norman Ogik and Karim Ndugwa were the scorers in each half for the Ibrahim Kirya coached men.

Ogik, who was scoring for the second time since crossing from Police, put the Purple Sharks in the lead in the 14th minute of the game and ensured the difference at the halftime break.

Ndugwa stretched the scoreline with a header off Hakim Senkumba’s ball at the hour mark, moments after replacing Abdul Karim Kasule at the start of the second period.

Ndugwa was making his debut since returning from topflight side Mbarara City where he spent six months on loan.

Kirya’s deputy Andy Lule lauded the team’s result and echoed the club’s desire to pick maximum points in every game that comes their way.

” I thank my players and the technical team as well for winning yet another game. Not a convincing one but the good thing is that we won because all we want is to keep on winning and pick every possible point in our way as we aim for the topflight promotion.”

Lule asserted at full-time.

The victory pushes Wakiso Giants to 26 points garnered from 12 games played while defeat keeps former JMC Hippos in relegation jeopardy.

The former Premier League outfit is bottom placed on the Elgon group table with 9 points collected from 12 games.

Elsewhere in the Elgon pool, Kataka FC edged Bukedea Town Council 1-0 in the Eastern derby played at the Emokori grounds in Bukedea.

Majidu Mutoni scored the priceless goal for the home side after finishing off a decent counter attack in the first half.

Light SSS played to a goalless stalemate with Entebbe FC while Dove All Stars left it late to earn a 1-0 win over UPDF FC in Bombo.
