Egyptian FA suspends referee for TV appearance

The Egyptian Football Association has confirmed a three month suspension for match official Saeed Hamza after appearing on TV.

Hamza appeared on Egyptian TV and criticized the EFA and the committee of referees for not being paid in time.

Hamza further revealed that the referees had not been paid for the past seven months.

On top of that, he criticised the federation for not handing the referees new equipment despite spending 80 millions on introducing VAR in the local League.

Hamza later apologized to the EFA committee and CEO for appearing on TV without a notice before he was slapped with a three month ban from football.

The Egyptian Premier League is currently on a hold due to the unfortunate outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
