Egyptian Premier League side Ismaily Sports Club have entered the battle to sign Ugandan midfielder Khalid Aucho, Swift Sports has learnt.
Ismaily SC will now compete with Tanzanian giants Simba SC and Yanga SC for the signature of the Uganda Cranes central midfielder.
Yanga have been keen on swooping the free agent midfielder who has been strongly linked to rivals Simba in the past month.
Ismaily SC have emerged as the latest suitors but it’s not a surprise since Ehab Galal the current Ismaily coach has previously worked with Aucho at Misr El Makkasa.
Aucho is currently unattached to any club since he left Egyptian side Misr El Makkasa last week following the expiry of his employment contract.
A move to Ismaily would make Aucho the second Ugandan to feature for the Egyptian club in two years after striker Patrick Kaddu who was there on loan from RS Berkane a season ago.
Ismaily are three time Egyptian Premier League champions (1967, 1991 and 2000). They are also winners of the CAF Champions League in 1967 as well as two time winners of the Egyptian Cup.
Aucho has played for the Uganda Cranes 50 times since his debut eight years ago. He represented Uganda in the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in Gabon and Egypt.
At club level, he has played for Simba FC (now UPDF), Tusker, Gor Mahia, Baroka FC (South Africa), Red Star Belgrade and OFK Beograd (both in Serbia) and Indian sides East Bengal and Churchill Brothers.
