The Uganda Cranes will take on Egypt at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria for a group E table of the table clash at exactly 9:00pm Ugandan time and many Ugandan football enthusiasts will be glued to their TV sets and transmission gadgets, those who can’t, www.swiftsportsug.com will be relaying all the action live straight to your tabs.

Uganda beat Egypt 1-0 in Kampala to go top of the group and if they manage to avoid defeat, they will have done their chances a massive favour of qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in history.

Coach Moses Basena is expected to maintain the same team that started in Kampala after all, the wise saying goes, ” If it ain’t broken, why fix it “? Onyango in goal, Wadada, Isinde, Walusimbi, and Juuko in defence, Aucho, Wasswa , Miya, Ochaya, Okwi in midfield and Derrick Nsibambi to lead the line on his own.

Egypt Coach Hector Cuper said immediately after the match in Kampala that he will ring some changes and he is expected to start with Ahmed El Mohammed at right back, Saleh Goma may also be drifted in for Abdallah El Said and a more conventional striker Ahmed Hassan Kouka may start ahead of Amr Gamal.

We managed to ask some ardent followers of Ugandan football to give us our views on what the Cranes and Basena should do to get the best out the fixture in Alexandria. Here is what they said.

Ahmed Wahab Mugabe
(Ugandan football enthusiast, presenter at OneTruth TV and C. E. O SONA sports home )

“Let’s play our game,
concentrate, this is just an other game of football,no need to panic, keep the focus and we shall get what we need.”

Bamwine Adams
( Human drug pharmacist and Vipers SC fan)

“Let’s play our game with no pressure and every player to fight for one another as a team because that’s where our strength is since we don’t have those super talented individuals like our opponents. Team work will be key in determination of Uganda’s result tonight “.

Bigyo Innocent Tumusiime, Mr Regular: ( University graduate and Cranes fanatic)

“Let who ever has been read on the starting line up give his best and know that his the best we had to start this game. The players should play with discipline (tactical) have courage and determination and most importantly enjoy the game, this is not war, they should be positive of any results we get, it’s still advantage Uganda. “

Engineer Ivan Balondemu
(CEO BAF engineering and associated architects and SC Villa enthusiast)

“I believe and actually feel that its now possible than ever before for us get a win in Alexandria.

However all this is subject to the coach fielding the right players who believe in collective play at all time especially numbers 7,11,9 and 10 all these players must have capacity to come back “okwetabamu”( loosely translated as getting involved into every aspect of the proceedings)  any player whose mentality of play is not like that, has no business playing for us today. I believe we shall get a positive results.”

Namuli Rehema:
(Educationist and Uganda Cranes/ SC Villa super fan)

The players and technical team should avoid taking a defensive approach to the game as it was in Rwanda which backfired so badly to the extent that the Cranes survived ejection by a whisker. Everyone on the team should be free to express themselves, attack where necessary and defend when need be. I believe we can get a positive result from Alexandria “.

Martins Matovu

(Footballer, Junior coach and Teacher)

Since this is an away game though its very crucial for players to limit mistakes, to be comfortable and have discipline in defence.

Whoever fails to stay calm and comfortable in the opening minutes , will be in for the worst 90 minutes of their lives because we are going to defend up to the last minutes, so ball control, decision making and game reading must be at the highest level.”

Still in group E,  Ghana will take on Congo in Brazaville,  Ghana has a slim chance of making it to the World Cup but Congo are all but out of contention.
