Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre has expressed his excitement at achieving one of the biggest milestones in his footballing career after securing promotion for the Cranes.
The Frenchman who initially coached in Angola and Egyptian clubs, took over the Cranes job as his first ever international assignment late last year.
” Yes, this must be my greatest achievement after stepping foot on the African continent 8 years ago”.
He also took a dig at the critics who were baying for his blood following a turbulent genesis in Ugandan football.
” I think my critics will have nothing to write home about, after our poor start, many started questioning our methods but here we are. Everyone deserves time in their job, be it the SC Villa coach who is facing a tough time on the local scene”.
“I am happy because we have managed to accomplish our target, my players mastered well our tactical plan and I am very feel proud of them.
“I thank my staff, Federation for making sure that we qualify for the final tournament, so it’s a fantastic moment for me. We want to end the campaign on a high note and so we shall face Tanzania aiming for maximum points.”
Desabre also hailed Patrick Kaddu who netted the all important goal that inspired Cranes to back to back AFCON final tournaments
“I am happy for Kaddu for scoring the important goal, he is a great player and an example to all players who play in the local league.”
Desabre and his charges after securing a berth in the 2019 AFCON finals will take on the Nigeria Super Eagles in an international friendly game on Tuesday 20th November at Asaba Stadium, Nigeria.
