Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre summoned 23 players to prepare for two international friendlies against Malawi and another team which is yet to be confirmed. The friendlies are slated for 24th and 27th of March 2018.

Among the summoned players 19 players are foreign based and only four local based. The cranes tactician gave an explanation on why his list comprised more of the foreign based players.

He explains,

“I chose a list of 23 players, comprising of many foreign players this is because i need to know more about those who play abroad. The good thing is at least now i know those who were part of the CHAN squad.

“I also followed many local championships games with my assistant and also summoned local based players.”

Desabre also confirmed that they will also have another friendly game in May this year before the African Cup of nations qualifying engagements.
He narrates,

“We shall have another friendly in May this year as we continue preparations for the 2019 African cup qualifying matches Tanzania, Lesotho, Cape Verde in September, October December respectively.

“I am also happy that the two friendly games we are going to play this month will help me learn more about the summoned players as we prepare for the qualifying matches.”

Desabre also confirmed that he follows many players and promised to summon more during the next camp. He added,

“This is my first list as cranes head coach, I followed 50 players though the list comprises of only 23 players but i hope to see others in the next camping.” Said Desabre.

Uganda is currently top of Group L of the 2019 African cup of nations qualifiers with 3 points and are grouped alongside Cape Verde, Lesotho and East African neighbours Tanzania.
