URA fc and Mbarara city fc played to a one all stalemate at Mandela national stadium in Namboole in the 14th round of the Azam Uganda Premier league.

There was very little competitiveness in the game for almost the entire first half with both sides looking to play a balanced game, one with limited opportunities.

At the stroke of the first half, a well positioned Makweth Awol beat the hosts’ defence with a tap off a Erieza Okorie cross from the left flank of the pitch past the goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga into the back of the net to give the visitors a lead.

Enter the second half and things were not any different. Either side looked harmless.

Ibrahim Kirya was not going to give the Ankole Lions a chance to we all away with a win. 10 minutes into the second half, he made a double substitution replacing a visibly worn-out Shafik Kagimu and Nicholas Kagaba with Bokota Labama and Charles Ssempa respectively.

8 minutes later, Said Was called off and replaced by Denis Kamanzi in a bid to pick up the already broken pieces.

With the introduction of a new attacking force, URA looked more troublesome and Mbarara city started to leave dangerously with the former asking more questions but the later’s defence was up to give answers.

Denis Kamanzi headed home a well layed cornerkick by Sam Sekitto 81 minutes into play to level matters for the hosts.

This was Kamanzi’s second goal of the season having scored the first against Proline fc still when he came off the bench at Namboole.

Awol’s goal was the 7th of the season for Mbarara city but the first away goal of there debut season.

It is also important be to note that Mbarara city fc have not won a game away so far and URA have not lost a game at home this season. The result puts URA on 20 points behind Vipers in 6 but with a game in hand,  whereas Mbarara City rain in 11th on 17 points.
