Ugandan defender Savio Kabugo is now a free agent leaving Ethiopian side Sebeta Kenema on mutual consent.

Kabugo confirmed the development via his Facebook Page on Thursday,

“Due to the pandemic, Sebeta FC and I had to make some tough decisions. We have come to a mutual agreement to terminate our contractual relationship. I would like to thank the club president, coach and his technical team, my teammates and our beloved fans. It has been a great experience winning and losing together and I wish you the very best Sebeta FC.”

The lanky central defender joined the Ethiopian Premier League side Sebeta Kenema last year in July and won a silver medal in the Addis Ababa Inter-City Cup after losing to St. George.

Sebeta Kenema finished 10th after the Ethiopian Premier League was ended prematurely due to the outbreak of Coronavirus virus in the Horn of Africa nation.

Kabugo has previously played for SC Victoria University, Proline FC, KCCA, SC Villa and AS Vita in DR. Congo.

He has 8 national team caps and represented Uganda at the 2014 CHAN tournament held in South Africa. He is remembered for scoring the lone goal that guided Uganda Cranes to a 1-0 home victory over Ghana in the 2015 AFCON Qualifiers.
