COVID-19: UPL return date halted

The Uganda Premier League return date has been halted after the President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni extended the nationwide lockdown to 21 days due to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

The current season was slated to return on 5th May, 2020.

While addressing the Nation on Tuesday afternoon, Museveni Said,

The government has decided to extend the lockdown starting on 15th April to 5th May. This is in order to give ourselves more time to study the situation for a longer time. Therefore all the measures previously announced will stay in place for another 21 days.

On 18th March, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations announced the suspension of all it’s authorised competition for 32 days following the guidelines that were put in place during the first Presidential address.

Vipers were top of the standings with 54 points when the league went into the recess.
