COSAFA U-17 : Nalukenge scores six as Uganda annihilate hosts

Juliet Nalukenge scored six goals as the Uganda U-17 girls team obliterated hosts Mauritius 11-0 in the second group game played on Sunday at the St. Francois Xavier stadium in Port Luis.

Margret Kunihira, Fauzia Najjemba, Stella Musubika and goalkeeper Daphine Nyayenga scored the other goals for the Ayub Khalifa coached team.

From the onset Uganda were offensive until the final whistle was blown.

Kunihira scored the first goal as early as the second minute of the game before Nalukenge made it 2-0 three minutes later.

Musubika, another Kawempe Muslim player registered her name on the score sheet in the 14th minute.

Najjemba who grabbed a brace on the day, scored the fourth goal at the stroke of the half hour mark before Nalukenge ensured a 5-0 half-time lead eight minutes later.

The resumption saw Uganda start on a high with Nalukenge leading the rout once again.

The Kawempe Muslim starlet was on target twice in the 49th and 51st minutes.

Goalkeeper Nyayenga also joined the scoring spree after converting from the penalty mark in the 54th minute.

Nalukenge made it 9-0 at the hour mark before Najjemba completed her double six minutes later.

Nalukenge put the icing on the cake with her 6th goal of the day in the 74th minute.

Hadija Nandago was brought on for Zaitun Namaganda early in the second half while Catherine Nagadya replaced Kunihira in the closing stages of the game.

The Uganda junior side has now garnered four points and inch closer to the semi finals.

Nalukenge is currently the leading goal scorer of the tournament with seven goals, one better than South African duo of Tiffany Kortjie and Oyisa Margasi.

Uganda’s next and final group game will be on Tuesday at the MFA Technical against Comoros.
