COSAFA 2018: Namibia next as the Crested Cranes aim to secure knock out berth

The Crested Cranes will return to action tomorrow when they lock horns with Namibia for their second Group C contest in the COSAFA Women’s Championship.

Uganda pulled off a narrow 4-3 win against Swaziland in their opening game at Wolfson Stadium, whereas Namibia lost 1-0 at the hands of Zimbabwe.


Farida Bulega is optimistic that her side is will be able to master Namibia and reach the sky. She says,

“We have prepared well and no injury concerns ahead of the game. We are going to do our best to win since we need to top the group and advance to the knock out phase.”

Bulega’s side will be boosted by the 6 players who joined the contingent on Wednesday and she is likely to make changes from the starting line up that beat Swaziland, these include Juliet Nalukenge, Lillian Mutuuzo, Shadia Nankya, Aisha Namukisa, Shamirah Nalugya and left back Grace Aluka.

Crafty forward Hasifa Nassuna who netted a brace against Swaziland will be looked at for inspiration in the attacking department.

Midfield maestro Tracy Jones Akiror alongside Resty Nanziri and Norah Alupo will also be expected to rise up the Ugandan flag.

Uganda is currently second in Group C with 3 points accumulated and a win against Namibia will brighten their chances of advancing past the group phase.
